Now It's Official

6 November, 2006

So, now we're married. And it feels different, in some small but persistent way. It's not quite like anything I've ever felt before; the closest thing that I can think is the feeling you get after going to Mass, where you feel refreshed and complete, if only for a brief time. But this is lasting, and I hope it never goes away.

The ceremony on the 28th was completely brilliant: of course I'm biased, but I don't think I've seen a finer wedding ceremony anywhere. As it poured down rain all day on Friday, I prayed it would be alright, that the Lord was signify his approval in the heavens. And so He did. The sun was bright, the sky was clear and the fall colours were lovely at Grand Oaks. Everything was wonderful.

One of the surprising highlights came in Jeremy's reading from the Old Testament, where he calmly and proudly declared with the straightest of faces "and if two lie together, they will harm each other...Oh! Um, they will warm each other!" As McDaniel said afterwards during the reception "It's moments like that that make life beautiful." Indeed.

I can't imagine anything having gone better on our wedding day, and I'm humbled to have shared it with so many of our friends and family. Memories were made that day which we'll carry with us for the rest of our lives—the rest of our new life together.

We haven't seen our pictures from the wedding yet, but we do have pictures from our honeymoon in the Yucatan. There are many stories to tell, which I haven't written down yet, but here is the gallery, enjoy:
