Glorious Mysteries: The Ascension
19 March, 2010When Our Lord ascended to the Father, the angels asked the awestruck disciples "Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven." (Acts 1:11). They might have added "He's already told you what you are to do: carry on his mission on earth while he is gone!"
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
St. Teresa of Avila
Christ has left us to be his witness in all the world, to live and to proclaim the Gospel. Let us remember he is with us "until the end of the age" (Mt 28:20), and look to unite all we do with his great Work of Redemption.
