To see the cherry blossoms again

29 March, 2010

To see the cherry blossoms opening again, I came. Tomorrow her birthday, a finer day than last year's gloom. It seems so very long ago, so very long. Already had the axis tilted, already was she turning away from me. The reaches of her orbit, so far, so far. The turning of the Wheel.

Sundresses on Mulberry Street, ice cream and children, and there is the pain of her leaving. A pain that passes, I must say, a little easier now. We saw the blossoms, mom and I, we watched the crowds. We walked and talked on drove on through the afternoon. We see, again, with eyes of Spring.
